EVAC is a Member group of the Air Care Alliance, a national coalition of volunteer-based public benefit flying groups which lists all of such organizations flying in the United States. The Operations Department is the most visible part of EVAC which includes the Medic Trucks, Paramedics and E.M.T.’s. Our employees are some of the most highly skilled emergency medical professionals the industry can supply. We respond to over 73,000 calls for service per year and transport almost 43,000 patients to local and out of county hospitals. Our service is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) only provider so that no matter where you are, you receive the same level of care under the guidance of one Medical Director.

EVAC utilizes System Status Management along with Dynamic Deployment to meet the changing demands placed on the EMS system in Volusia County. Employee scheduling and staffing is accomplished using 8, 10, 12 and 13-hour shifts providing 24-hours of ambulance coverage.
Each vehicle is equipped with state of the art Mobile Data Computers (MDC), Automatic Vehicle Locators (AVLS), Tablet Computers for reporting purposes, Zoll Cardiac Monitors and GPS Mapping capabilities. Our state of the art 800 MHz radio system allows us to talk with any other agency in Volusia County at the touch of a button for instant communications.

System Status Management
EVAC is one of only a few ambulance services in the State of Florida to use computer-aided flexible deployment, called System Status Management. Traditionally, ambulances were located at fixed posts or stations waiting for emergency calls.

By utilizing a flexible deployment system, ambulances are staged throughout Volusia County based on call history and geographical concerns. EVAC uses over fifty flexible posting locations and several fixed stations to have ambulances in the right location at the right time when they are needed, to minimize response times while maximizing cost efficiency in the system.
